This ball gown is from Vera Wang's Spring 2015 collection. This dress is an AMAZING work of art!
What first caught my eye about this dress is that it has the most beautiful ivory color I have ever seen. The pictures do not do it justice. The bodice is a corset style, ivory with ivory lace on top of it. It goes well with everyone's skin tone.
This ball gown has a hand-applique Chantilly lace bodice, and the skirt is accented by Chantily lace tulle and silk organza crescent technique. There are scattered bits of lace that cascade from the bodice throughout the skirt. I fell in love with that organza crescent shaped details in the front of the ball gown, but it was originally partially covered with shirred tulle, so I have my alteration lady gently tuck and pin back the shirred tulle so the work of art, the organza crescent shaped details, could shine through (All the modification that had been made were done so they can be easily taken off, and the dress can be worn as designed). The dress has the dreamy long train, which is made with 4 different types of lace and tulle, with beautiful lace flowers around the edge. The dress also has some ruched pieces on the skirt which I did not like, so we covered it with extra floral lace. I bought extra matching lace from Vera Wang and covered the ruched pieces (these can be easily taken off be your alteration lady).
The ball gown is made of hex tulle, which is a little more substantial and crisp that regular tulle, giving it a high end quality look. It also gives the dress a lot more volume and flare. It was important for me to find an elegant looking dress but something that was comfortable that I could be in all night so I could really enjoy my wedding. This was most comfortable dress to wear all day and night because it was so light weight!!! And I had so many complements throughout the night about my dress!!
The size 4 fit perfectly. I'm 5'5" and wore 3.9 inch heels we took off about 1/4 of an inch off the bottom, so there is still plenty of room to alter the length of the dress. Also, the dress can be easily taken in or shortened with seamstress.
Gown has been stored in its Bridal Garment bag since day of purchase, and it has been hanging in a dry and clean closet.
